Living in Australia, bushfires are pretty much inevitable and unavoidable. But it’s pretty hard to deal with devastation on this scale.
At last count, according to The Age, the death toll is 130 and climbing, and over 5000 homeless, making it Australia’s worst recorded natural disaster.
In the face of looming helplessness, my housemate has organised a fundraising auction, to be held this Saturday. We’re looking for donations of art or handmade items, or saleable services (juggling lessons, webpage building, massages, etc), or musicians and performers for the night. If you have anything you could contribute, drop me a line.
Otherwise, come along. All proceeds from the auction, the door and part of the drink sales will go to The Red Cross.
